Jesus teaches us to pray to our Heavenly Father for our daily bread in Matthew 6:11: “Give us today our daily bread.” Yet He also reveals that He Himself is the true bread of life in John 6:35: “I am the bread of life.”

Even more, Scripture tells us that Jesus is the very Word of God: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).

So when we pray for our daily bread, it is not only for our physical needs—but also for our spiritual nourishment. As Jesus reminds us in Matthew 4:4: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
